FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. QN: Are there any restrictions for non-citizens buying property in Uganda? ANS: Yes. Non citizens cannot acquire free hold or mailo land. They can only acquire leasehold property.
2. QN: Do you have any restrictions to who you can sell? ANS: No. We sell to everyone.
3. QN: Are mortgages available, at what interest rates and, what kind of security is needed? ANS: NHCC does not offer mortgage financing. Mortgages are available in commercial banks which include but not limited to the following banks :
a. Housing Finance Bank of Uganda Limited
b. Stanbic Bank
c. DFCU Bank
d. Standard Chartered Bank.
e. Barclays Bank The property being bought acts as the security for the mortgage. Please visit the mortgage financing page for more information.
4. QN: Are there any restrictions regarding off shore financing? ANS: No, one can bring in any amount of money.
5. QN: Can a purchaser of a flat get a title?
ANS : Yes, a purchaser can become a registered proprietor of a flat and have an individual title.
6. QN: Are your flats available for rent?
ANS : No, they are available only for purchase.
